Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Duo Pressure Cooker Set5NambuApril 23, 2009Before Kuhn-Rikon began offering these two pots as a set, we had coincidentally purchased exactly this pair of pots separately, so we did not get the Kuhn-Rikon brand glass lid (but we got two pressure lids, one with each pot). In response to another reviewer's comment that the two liter pan is too small, we find that we actually use the smaller pot more often than the larger one. For quick steaming artichokes or asparagus or other vegetables on the supplied trivet, the smaller pot is much handier than a larger pot, and the small pot also works well as a conventional frypan. The larger pot is a perfect size -- with either a conventional lid or with the pressure lid unlatched -- for cooking pasta for two to four people.
Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Duo Pressure Cooker Set2marvin_hamonFebruary 15, 2008Pros Very well built, easy to use, safety features Cons 2 liter cooker is too small to be useful The Bottom Line I would buy the 5 liter cooker and the glass lid separately. The 2 liter cooker is just not that useful to me. Full Review I purchased the set for use on my boat where I wanted to save energy and time while preparing meals and have been using them for several months now. I found the 5 liter pressure cooker to be great. It is extremely well made and if cared for I have no doubt that it will outlast me. The glass lid is also very useful if I want to use the cooker as a regular cooking pot, which I do quite often. The 2 liter cooker is quite disappointing though. Since you are not supposed to fill a pressure cooker more than half full at best you only have 1 liter to work with. Even for one person this is not much. I have found that I can use the larger cooker and if I have smaller amounts to cook I just use a small metal bowl as an insert. I was hoping that it could double as a fry pan but it does not have a non-stick coating and the stainless steel is quite sticky.
Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Duo Pressure Cooker Set4bobdenver1961February 15, 2008I love this pressure cooker set. I got it about two months ago. I have only used the 5 liter and have not yet tried the small one, but so far so good. I read all the reviews and all said that Kuhn-Rikon was the Rolls Royce of pressure cookers. Works like a champ. The only complaint I have about it is that the instructions are not very easy to understand. Since this product is made in Switzerland the translations to English is not the best. I have never owned a pressure cooker before and I was kind of scared the first time I used it. I cooked potatoes the first time and there is conflicting information between the enclosed instruction book and the recipe book about how much water to add and how long to cook. I'm still not sure I'm using it 100% correctly, but so far no explosions and everything is turning out fine. I would recommend this pressure cooker to anyone who wants the "best". If you like to cook and like different kitchen gadgets this is the one to buy.
Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Duo Pressure Cooker Set5ltermFebruary 15, 2008had never used a pressure cooker before I bought the Kuhn-Rikon "Duo". It comes with two pots (5 liter and shallow pan), one pressure cooking lid and one glass cover. I like the fact that I have a shallow pan for smaller quantities and meats as well as a larger pot for stock, soups and braising. Comparing it to other brands, I'm not sure it was really necessary to pay the 100% price premium for the Kuhn-Rikon brand. However, if you're paranoid about pressure cooker safety (as I used to be before I got some experience with it), you might want to consider Kuhn-Rikon. After six months, I find that I pressure-cook much more often than I expected, about 4-6 times per week. It's fast, and the results are excellent.
