The Spiegelau IPA Glass was designed to highlight not just the complex and alluring aromatic profiles of an American “hop-forward” IPA beers flavor, but also its florid, piney, citrus-heavy aroma and preserve a frothy head, as well as enhance taste and mouthfeel of your fine IPAs. The comfortably wide opening is ideal for the drinker to savor each beer and makes Spiegelau’s latest design the go-to vessel for enjoying IPA beers. The shape of the glass pours the ideal flow onto the palate, while the oval-shaped bowl allows an IPA's pungency to coalesce in the nose. The ridges along its stem agitate the beer with each drink, releasing added aroma and flavor.
Designed in collaboration with two of the leading IPA brewers in the United States, Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head brewery and Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada brewery, the Spiegelau IPA glass is the new standard for IPA beer glassware. Achieved through a series of design and tasting workshops in which hundreds of possible designs were considered, the brewers ultimately and unanimously chose, by secret vote, one glass – ‘number 6’ – from a final lineup of eight custom-made prototypes.

Product Reviews for Spiegelau IPA Craft Beer Glass Set of Two
Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada and Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head discuss the collaboration of the new IPA glass from Spiegelau while showing the production of the Spiegelau IPA specific glass.
Spiegelau is dedicated to producing the very best glasses possible. This means bringing to the market glasses of the highest quality and aesthetics as well as durability and value, with the goal of making your experience a pleasurable, fun part of today’s exciting lifestyle. That´s why Spiegelau glasses grace the tables of so many homes and fine restaurants across the world, and remains a leader in the industry. Spiegelau makes fine stemware and tableware for everyday use. Spiegelau crystal beer glasses are different from regular glasses because of the combination of rarified, unusually pure mineral source at the Dorfner mine in Austria. The Hirschau-Schnaittenbacher basin is one of the most important deposits of kaolin, silica sand and feldspar on the European continent. Spiegelau sources raw quartz silica, combined with state of the art production methods to create their highly superior crystal glassware.
In the images below you see a chip of common glass and a chip of Spiegelau crystal magnified to varying levels to show the difference in glass quality that separates Spiegelau from the rest.
Image 1 This image shows a chip of common glass magnified at 20x. Note the Lip Edge & ID Edge as we'll zoom in on those. Image 2 In this image you see a chip of Spiegelau crystal magnified at 50x. Note the different shape of the lip edge. Image 3 Remember the Lip Edge box from Image 1, here it is at 1000x and the common glass is starting to show its flaws. Note the lines and random surface irregularities. Image 4
Now here is the Spiegelau at 1500x. Even at 500x closer than the common glass in image 3, the Spiegelau is looking rather smooth. Note the small chip on the edge in the center of the picture as we're zooming into that next. Image 5 Here is that chip in image 4 now zoomed in at 20000x. The Spiegelau crystal surface is still exceptionally smooth. This smoothness has a direct impact on the way the beers carbonation reacts. Image 6 Here is the common glass lip edge at 20000x magnification. This no longer looks like glass but some kind of lunar surface. The roughness of common glass absorbs carbonation, robbing your beer of a very important part of the drinking experience. Image 7 Here is the common glass interior surface magnified at 20000x. This is another shot at the carbonation robbing, porous surface of common glass. Image 8 Here we see the Spiegelau crystal interior surface magnified at almost 22000x. Even at this level the surface is super smooth and that smoothness allows your fine beers to maintain their natural carbonation, thus maintaining a creamy head much longer than common beer glasses.
In the pictures below you'll see the difference that great glass makes. Notice how the standard beer glasses seem to be lacking a head while the Spiegelau is still creamy and inviting.
Beers served in common glasses do not fully release their delicate aromas and often taste bland and uninteresting. A poorly designed glass can also destroy the spritzy refreshing character of a beer and let the head collapse too soon. It is partly due to the wrong choice of beer glasses that many beers are perceived as tasting pretty much the same. Spiegelau Beer Classics Crystal Beer Glasses will help you get the most out of your beer drinking experience and may even open you up to many beers that you had thought were not for you.
